Darjeeling, located in the state of West Bengal is famous for its tea industry. The lies in the foothills of the lower Himalayas which are also known as the Mahabharat range. For people who would like to experience a chilly climate and monsoons in a hill station, the monsoon and winter months would be suitable for travel to Darjeeling.
On arrival at NJP, you will be received by our representatives and driven to Darjeeling. After a delicious lunch, go on to visit the local market and the famous Darjeeling Mall for a wonderful shopping experience. Then stay overnight in Darjeeling.
Wake up early on this day and get set for a drive (at around 3.45 AM) through the primitive forests of oak and magnolia. Reach up the Tiger Hill and witness a breathtaking sunrise over Kanchenjunga Peak (subject to clear weather). On your way back, make a visit to the famous Ghoom Monastery (famed for its 15 ft-tall Maitreya Buddha statue) and Batasia Loop. Then return to the hotel and proceed further to visit Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursdays) and Tenzing Gumpo Rock. Then have a good stay in Darjeeling.
On this day, you will go on a full day excursion to Mirik Lake, Tea Gardens, Pashupati market (optional) etc. Situated at 4,902 feet, Mirik Lake is a paradisiacal location with splendid views and fun activities. Also, indulge in some shopping at the colourful stalls in Pashupati market and behold the beautiful tea garden of Darjeeling. After a good sightseeing tour, you will rest the night away in Darjeeling.
The morning is free, when you can simply relax or explore the locality on your own. After a good lunch, travel towards NJP for your journey back home.
